Guided Biofilm therapy
Guided Biofilm Therapy is a modern way of cleaning teeth that is gentler and more thorough than a traditional scale and polish. Instead of scraping, it uses warm water, air and a fine powder to remove the biofilm (plaque) that causes gum disease and decay, including in places that are hard to reach.
What happens at a GBT appointment
We check your teeth, gums and any implants.
We apply a disclosing solution that colours the plaque, so you can see exactly where it builds up.
We show you where to focus your brushing and cleaning between teeth.
We remove the biofilm and stains with AIRFLOW, using warm water and a fine, gentle powder.
We use a slim ultrasonic tip only where hard tartar remains.
We do a final check, and agree when to see you next.
Who it’s for
GBT suits most patients, including people with sensitive teeth, dental implants, braces or aligners, and anyone who finds a traditional clean uncomfortable.
